Electrician in North Vancouver, BC

We work across both the City and District of North Vancouver — Lonsdale, Lynn Valley, Deep Cove, Edgemont, Capilano, Lower Lonsdale. North Van's mix of older Lonsdale character homes and steep-lot custom homes in the District creates two very different electrical workloads: panel upgrades and rewiring on one side, custom-home wiring and high-end lighting on the other.

North Vancouver-specific notes

Typical panel era

Older Lonsdale and Lower Lonsdale homes commonly have 60A or 100A panels. Newer District of North Vancouver builds in Edgemont, Capilano, and Lynn Valley are typically 200A as a minimum, with 400A on larger custom homes. Steep lots and long service runs are the big variable in cost.

Permit office

North Van has two municipalities: City of North Vancouver and District of North Vancouver. Both rely on Technical Safety BC for the electrical permit, but each has its own building department for service-entrance and structural permits. We file with the correct one based on your address.

FAQ for North Vancouver homeowners

Do you serve Lonsdale, Lynn Valley, and Deep Cove? +

Yes. We do regular work across the entire North Shore — central Lonsdale and Lower Lonsdale character homes, Lynn Valley single-family, Deep Cove waterfront, Edgemont and Capilano custom homes.

My home was built in the 1950s. What panel size is typical? +

1950s North Van homes — especially in central and Lower Lonsdale — were typically built with 60A fuse panels. Many were upgraded to 100A breaker panels at some point but a meaningful share have not been touched since. Any EV charger or heat pump install in a home that age usually starts with a service upgrade to 200A.

How long does it take to get to me from your Richmond shop? +

Typical drive from Richmond to the North Shore is 35–50 minutes via the Lions Gate Bridge or the Second Narrows (Ironworkers Memorial), depending on traffic. We schedule North Shore work in clusters when possible.

Do you handle the District of North Vancouver versus City of North Vancouver permit office? +

Yes — we file with both as appropriate. The provincial electrical permit (Technical Safety BC) is the same in both jurisdictions, but the building permit for service-entrance or structural-affecting work goes through whichever municipality your address falls in. We confirm before quoting.

Are there North Vancouver-specific quirks I should know about? +

Steep lots and long service runs are the big one. Many District of North Vancouver homes are set back from the street with long underground or overhead service runs, which can add cost to a service upgrade. We measure and quote accordingly.
